About the Author
Adrian Tappin first started keeping aquarium fish in 1967 with a small 55- litre community aquarium containing a mixture of general tropical fishes. By 1973, Adrian had progressed to a dedicated fishroom, which contained 46 aquariums ranging in size from 55 to 680 litres, with both fresh and salt water species.
Adrian kept all the usual freshwater species eventually specialising in Cichlids and Catfishes. He is an experienced breeder, having bred more than 350 species of freshwater fishes. During the mid 1970s he started collecting, keeping and breeding rainbowfishes.
In addition to retail aquarium experience, Adrian has been involved in the organised hobby for most of his fishkeeping years and has held a number of administrative positions with various aquarium societies. He was instrumental in the formation of the Australia New Guinea Fishes Association (ANGFA) and the Queensland Federation of Aquarium Societies (QFAS). A prolific writer, he has had numerous articles published in both Australian and International hobby publications. He also maintains an award winning website called Home of the Rainbowfish, which first appeared in 1996 as Rainbowfish On-Line. He enjoys reading and writing about fishkeeping in general and sharing his experience with others.
